How to Organize Your Garage ✨

There’s a reason so many people feel stressed just opening their garage door. A study by the National Association of Professional Organizers found that 50% of American families say the garage is the most disorganized space in their home. And honestly, that’s not surprising.

Garages often become catch-all spaces. Sports gear, tools, seasonal items, holiday decor, all piled in without a clear system. Most garages were never designed with real life in mind, so over time, they turn into cluttered rooms that feel impossible to manage.

The shift happens when you stop treating the garage like leftover space and start seeing it as a functional part of your home.

When storage is planned intentionally, everything changes. Vertical storage frees up the floor. Cabinets hide visual clutter. Slat walls and shelving make items easy to see and access. Suddenly, the garage works with you instead of against you.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s function. A well-designed garage supports your routines, fits your inventory, and makes everyday tasks easier.

In our latest project highlight, you can see how we transformed a Greenwich garage into a space that truly functions. Before, the only storage our clients had was a bulky shelving unit that couldn’t hold most of what they actually needed to store.

We worked with them to go through their items, edit what no longer served a purpose, and decide what belonged in their storage room versus what should stay in the garage.

From there, we designed the layout, determining how many cabinets made sense for their lifestyle and what type of storage would best suit the items they use most.

Before-and-after of a garage renovation. Left: cluttered with bikes and boxes. Right: tidy with organized shelves, wall tools, bright floor.

Garages are especially tricky because they tend to hold bulky, oddly shaped items. That usually calls for creative solutions and a trained eye to make sure the space feels both practical and easy to maintain.

From cabinets and slat walls to shelving and lifts, thoughtful planning can turn your garage into one of the most functional rooms in your home.

Happy organizing! ✨
